Throwback post:  Flying Lisbon, Portugal back to the United States via Heathrow on British Airways, and Heathrow was having some delays.

I thought I was cool for getting to hang out in the Business Class Lounge.  Until I looked out the window to see this pilot being way cooler than I.

OK like how many Avios or AA miles do I need to hang with this cool cat on the hood of his plane.  I would have guessed it was Austin Powers except he wasn’t wearing crushed velvet.  And you gotta know a pilot who hangs like this probably also has a pretty happening cockpit? Cheeky.

747-100

For any aviation geeks reading this, the beautiful bird is a 747-100 registered G-BBPU 20953/248 Virginia Water.  It entered service with BA in 1975, and was eventually sold to Air Gulf Falcon (from Swaziland) then Spirit of Africa (Sudan).  This 747’s current status is scrapped.

Club World Menus

For you foodies, here was my menu from my incoming flight from Portugal.  For unknown reasons I did not take pictures of the food but I recall it was very good.

If you have never flown on the upper deck of a 747 I recommend you try it as unfortunately this legendary jet is slowly being retired by most passenger airlines.
